Good point that one doesn't get repetitive stress on the wrist when reading through a print graphic novel. I very much enjoy having print copies of my favorite series. Maybe not everything, but those I am most fond of.

I do agree that it'll be a sad day when everything goes digital. I'm not sure that I appreciate the art more when it's in my hands, but it is more useful as reference if I don't have to drag my laptop around. It's also much less tiring to flip through a book than it is to scroll or click continuously through something.

Still, I think it's really hard to argue with the economy of the proposition. Space is also a huge issue for me since I move around a lot. As it is, my comics are scattered around between the three residences I move between every year, and it's a pain in the ass when I just feel like reading something that's thousands of miles away at the moment.

I kind of imagine that we'll end up with some kind of mixed collection eventually -- for American comics, it would make sense for people to buy single issues digitally and then pick up the physical copy of the collected trade. It's a bit tricker for manga, though a digital platform would make it easier for magazine-style publications like Jump to survive, so perhaps manga collectors could buy those large monthlies digitally and then pick up the physical tankobon of their favorite series?

My main issues are with regards to cost and space. Shelves of comics when I already have that many boxes of comics is unfeasible. Worse, the texture of comic books changes over time and keeping them dust and insect free is giving me a headache. If I can store everything in my hard drive and save real physical space, why not? Being able to get them at half the price of the hard copy is also welcoming for me.

However it'll be a pity if everything do goes digital. I feel that the original "feel" when reading manga/comics might be lost as I tend to appreciate drawings more when they're in hard copy, somehow. (:
