Yessssssssss! I finally get to see my awesome starfish avatar on your blog! Congratulations on the move, though mine arrived late. The blog’s layout, font and colors are easy for the eyes yet attractive. Great job!

Personally, I feel that your blog posts have become more attractive to read. They’re thoughtfully written and some are beautifully presented with photos and pictures. Keep up the standards in blogging, cheers! (:

Yeah, WP’s interface and load of plugins are definitely what attracted me. The billion of themes are really nice too; if I had more time, I’d make my own, but there are enough choices that I don’t really need to. :3

Well done on getting the moving done with such little hassle (whenever I try to do this sort of thing lots of stuff breaks) and congrats on choosing WordPress…no system is perfect but overall it makes blog writing and maintenance so much easier. And yeah, self hosting automatically makes you cooler…

nice theme BTW – really clear and readable. There’s a whole tonne of plugins and add-ons for WP but I think a smart, easy-to-read page layout should always be a priority. Best of luck with your continued blogging and all that. ^_^

@RP: Thanks! It was a pretty smooth import for the most part, though I would have loved for all the commenter information (URLs and gravatars, specifically) to have been left in tact. Most of the work was just the housekeeping afterwards — categorizing and retagging everything (WP imported all my Blogger tags as categories, which isn’t what I wanted) and fixing all the metalinks.

Cool, congrats with the move! Self-hosted is definitely the way to go. So did the wordpress import function miss a lot of stuff? I remember when I moved from blogger to WP it was fairly seamless, although I had a LOT less info to import.
