Finally, somene who hates this show. I have only read the manga, and I normally can bear shojo (there is a character who is flawed enough for me to love) but Kimi ni Todoke…ugh! All characters are waaaay to nice, the dramas are waaaay to bleeeh and the romance is obvious. Like you said, it isnt going slow because thats the way it goes…it is going slow because she is waaay too naive. The only thing I find remediable it is that Sawako didn’t want to change to get the guy, but to be a better girl…wait…did she change for the guy? Ugh, I would go look for it, but meh. Still, thanks for posting this, i feel less lonely in this world

The ones that is lame is Kazehaya.. he is just a perfect guy who just everybody just falls over him, the one thing i never watch in the show is because everything is just too easy for both of them.. its true Sadako is extremely cute but Kazehaya in a guys point of view is a totally jackass..

I dunno why but guys who put up with these kind of alpha males is bs.. everyguy is an alpha male himself unless sum dumb community, even if theres a few lesser guys out there,but undoubtly there will be another guy who will rival the other.. thats the way it is..

Theres no perfect guy everybody likes,there will be some guy even the perfect guy will hate.. but Kazehaya is just the same..

And unfortunately girls with a pathetic self esteem would wanna be around a person to lift and give meaning to her pathetic existence.. which is just sad..

But dun give me this crap that there is no other guy that can lift ppls spirits but Kazehaya, its bull crap.. its a lame harem anime.. that guy will not get respect from any guy..

@usajigen: Haven’t seen Itazura na Kiss, but it seems like it’d also fall into the heap of shoujo I wouldn’t really care for. As for Sawako, I just wish the reason for her stupid decisions was something more realistic rather than a supreme ignorance that I can’t imagine anyone having.

@Toonleap: Agreed! Idealism usually goes hand-in-hand with the unrealistic — Kimi ni Todoke’s depiction of people is too extreme one way or another; characters so far seem either wholly good or wholly bad (spiteful, jealous). I’m actually not a huge fan of Sawako’s various faces either, her mouth that looks like <> especially annoys me for some reason. ;\

The rest of the cast is perfectly idealistic.

I wonder if you also mean…unrealistic…. :) … You barely find this kind of personalities around this days.

I am watching because I cant stop watching Sawako’s multiple funny faces…the drama is a little bit unbearable for Me, but the rest is fine.

:( If anything, this reminded me of my BURNING HATE for Itazura na Kiss (at least Kotoko) before. Can’t deny Sawako’s stupidity, and the easy breezy solution to all her problems, but in the end… that’s who she is.

After having realized that I’m prone to making really stupid decisions myself, I feel like I don’t have the right to accuse Sawako of it.
